FC Torrevieja 2 Jove Español 1
This game had 7 goals, four disallowed for the host’s by the
linesman who clearly could not come to terms with the off-side law, from when
the ball was played, and as a consequence raised his flag several times much to
the disbelief of the 1200 crowd, but having said all that Torry were the
dominant force in this game and did not allow those decisions to disturb their
rhythm or control but fought on by
playing some attractive and exciting football to take all the points and take
them into 4th place.
Jove Español came here to attack the host’s which made for an
exciting 90 minutes of football right up to the final whistle, new sighing
Lotfi was in attack in the first half and was causing some severe problems, and
with only ten minutes on the clock he went up for a header and found Angel Ivan
who stroked it into the net but unfortunately the linesman raised his flag can
only assume for off-side as when Lotfi rose he did so on his own with no
defenders around.
By now the crowd was getting impatient with the officials and vented
there anger when in the 20th minute Angel Ivan again from the edge
of the box stroked the ball into the net, but again the flag was raised.
Aurelio was not having to much work to do in terms of saves at goal and
had it not been for one or two back passes we may as well had a cardboard cut
out between the sticks, Torry throughout the first half were well in control and
never looked under any pressure but Jove did make some nice passing movements
but they failed in the last quarter of the field, with 5 minutes remaining
Torry again had the ball in the net when a free kick on the edge of the box
taken by Angel Ivan found the head of Corcoles and went into the net but again
the linesman ruled off-side.
At half time Torry made one change when Cenamor replaced Lotfi,
primarily because of his power and brute force and it appeared to work he was
playing in the centre hustling his way through defences and a couple of times
only just failed to find Corcoles by the narrowest of margins.
The 59th minute brought the first official goal when Angel
Ivan was bought down just outside the box and he himself took the free kick low
and hard and found Corcoles who slotted it home from close range, a sigh of relief
was heard from around the ground at last one that counted, four minutes later
Torry scored the second when a ball from Heredia found Cenamor in attack he
passed his defender and chipped the ball over the advancing keeper.
But with 15 minutes remaining Jove scored as a result of a corner kick,
which the Torry manager will not be happy about as they practice those in
training.
Today’s game was a good advert for football and had it not been
for the cumbersome decisions of the officials the match would have ended up at
a much greater scoreline which would have benefited the hosts league campaign,
the way it’s going at the moment there is not much difference between the
top six and goals may have the edge this season.
Next week Torry are away to one of those six teams as they visit
Alicante B on the 16th November for an 11.30am kick.-off
